Conni went from being a middle school teacher to following her true passion of combining art and fashion. Glad she did because I love reading about her style and her unique adventures. Read how she took the leap and get inspired!
Name of your business? Who is the mastermind behind your business?
I am the mastermind of my styling business and blog, Art in the Find. I am an art lover, literally & figuratively, and also love sourcing from traveling to flea markets, shops, and beyond. I feel that there is a real art to finding something that makes your client/friends/or you very happy. It’s a unique and genuinely wonderful feeling.
How did you start your company?
I used to teach middle school history and have always had a real love for fashion, art, and style. Each year I taught, that love grew stronger and stronger. Last year, I finally took a leap of faith to follow my heart which was telling me that I needed to do what I really loved. Despite the unfamiliar challenges of running a small business and blog, I have never been happier.
What’s one (of many) things do you want to accomplish (business or career and personal)?
I want to build a successful business by growing my list of clients and growing my blog into a resource for others to continuously turn to for fashion/style advice. I love what I do and I love to share that with others.
What’s one mistake you’ve learned from?
One mistake I’ve learned from is being too impatient. I’ve made more than one mistake because I’ve done things too quickly. Having my own business and working with new people regularly has taught me to s.l.o.w. down and evaluate what’s good for others, for me and for my business.
What’s the best advice you’ve gotten (business or personal)?
The best advice in business is that I’ve gotten is to not take everything personally. Sometimes when you want to collaborate with a brand or you send an email out to someone and don’t hear back, it can feel like you’ve failed. Move forward and don’t ruminate on what isn’t going your way. Rather, you’ll learn from it by continuing to reach out to more people, finding other brands to collaborate with, or going in a different direction. Eventually, you’ll find the right people or the right things that work for you and vice versa!
What’s one food you can eat for the rest of your life?
Risotto…of any kind. Shrimp, mushroom, asparagus, you name it. The love that goes into this dish is sublime and the taste matches. Paired with a great crusty bread, parmesan cheese, and glass of red wine, it’s my perfect, forever meal.
You have to choose: living forever in sub-zero degree temperatures or blistering hot conditions (proper attire included).
Yikes! I am not a cold weather person, so I’d say Blistering Hot. Palm Springs in the summer is one of my favorite destinations. I’d take sweat over bone chilling cold any day!
Routine you have to complete every day/week (the more embarrassing the better)
I wake up, make a yummy cup of coffee, and immediately check Instagram! I’m not addicted to a lot of things but Instagram is my visual candy.
Current song you’re listening to?
I’m addicted to the Temper Trap station on Pandora. It’s on repeat every time I’m at my computer.
