Happy New Year, folks! I'm sure a lot of you have been bombarded with ads about, "New year new body," or "detoxing from the holiday glutton," and as an aspiring dietitian who has taken science courses I'm here to tell you: It's a lie fam!

The cool thing about our bodies is it knows what it's doing. Organs like our liver and kidneys do that detoxing thing EVERY DAY! Save your money and sanity. If you have any questions consult a certified dietitian without a sketchy past (and you can contact me in 3-5 years!).

TW: S**c*de and Ideation

Here’s the thing—the brain is an amazing, beautiful, complex, tricky, horrible, confusing thing we have. It helps us make decisions and process information.

It tells the organs to do their thing without us realizing it.

And while it’s beautiful and awesome at sending and receiving information, it can trick us, make us feel ways that keep us down, amongst other things.

“Why even try?”

No matter how you fight against it, with some, you may have that fleeting thought, “What if I wasn’t here anymore? That’d be nice.”

Sometimes it’s just a thought. For me, as it comes across my brain I shake my head and ask, “where the hell did that come from?” and go on about my day.

For some, it’s “further” confirmation.

Suffering is one one of the worst feelings. You feel like a burden, you want to scream, cry, but nothing shakes *that* feeling. So you put on a happy face and try to blend in.

The reasons are endless, and honestly don’t matter. The thing to understand is, when one follows through and succeeds, it’s to find peace; if not here, it’s elsewhere, because their brain makes them believe this to be true…

…the beautiful, complex, tricky, horrible, confusing thing we live with daily.

Please be sensitive and understanding of this. To quickly dismiss this as a choice is hurtful to people who suffer. Compassion and empathy go a long way, and should be practiced daily.

Loneliness…the catapult to my internal downfall.

It’s heavy now, and I wonder what it is that got me here.

This feeling has been around for a while…since I was a child.

And over the last couple of years I’ve experienced sudden breakups, loss of community that I didn’t see coming my way.

Were there warning signs? Hints?

I question everything about myself, who I am, and wonder if I’m enough…or too much.

Ideally, you should find peace within yourself, but if I’m honest, I long for community that doesn’t want me.

Or so it feels.

Those thoughts get louder, more rampant, and I want to quiet them and say it’s all OK.

Just breathe.

So I sit and wonder (as a certain Bun demands head rubs) what do I do next?

Leave like a thief in the night and tell no one where I’m going?

In my mind, there’s something more than this chokehold of emotions stuck in my throat…right?

So here I am, sitting with so many emotions that I hate, just trying to breathe. 🧘🏾‍♀️

I am: a multidisciplinary content creator full of great ideas that make sense to only me caused by ADHD.

On weekends I’m doing school work because school is cool and want to become a dietitian for those dealing with metabolic disorders like me (hey #PCOS and #Hypothyroidism).

Other things in no particular order:

✨ When I was younger I wanted to be a business woman with a briefcase and sit at a desk. Doing what? Who knows.

✨ Bunz interrupts my homework time by climbing on my lap and/or moving my pencils and notebook with his nose off the couch.

✨ If you’re not car dancing, why own a car?

✨ Used to lol at my mom wearing red lipstick. Now I get. I totes get it

Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero shows how she is her own worst enemy. One of the themes, body image, plays a short part in the video but created a huge backlash.

Taylor stands on the scale and the needle stops at “fat.” This caused accusations of fatphobia even with Taylor publicly talking about her eating disorder.

Listen, anti-fat bias is real. Doctors can refuse to see patients of a certain BMI. Each administrations wants to make the calorie labels bigger every four years, and Hollywood loves to give people in a bigger body the sloth, glutenous, greedy take.

Taylor didn’t cause any of this to happen yet she’s the bad guy (or dare I say anti-hero) for sharing her story?
